Abstract: Requires social security coverage for parish and municipal officials and employees
who are not in a public retirement system.
Proposed law requires the governing authority of a parish or municipality to provide social
security coverage for each elective office and each position of parish or municipal employment
that is filled by a full-time employee if such officer or employee is not an active contributing
member of a public retirement system, plan, or fund. The governing authority shall fulfill all
employer obligations with respect to coverage of such positions by the social security system. 
Further provides that proposed law applies to a position that is in any branch, agency, or other
organizational unit of the parish or municipality and that is funded in whole or in part with its
funds.
Effective upon signature of governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action.
