St. Germain	HB No. 262
Abstract: Adds the crimes of failure to register as a convicted arsonist and violations of a fire
marshal's orders to the list of offenses for which a fire marshal may conduct
investigations and make arrests.
Present law provides for specific offenses for which a fire marshal, the first assistant fire marshal,
each deputy fire marshal, certified local authorities, and state or municipal arson investigators,
while engaged in the performance of their duties as such, are authorized to investigate and make
arrests.
Present law provides for the crime of failure to register as a convicted arsonist and violations of a
fire marshal's orders.
Proposed law retains present law and adds the crimes of failure to register as a convicted arsonist
and violations of a fire marshal's orders related to activities determined to pose an immediate
danger to life to the list of offenses for which a fire marshal, the first assistant fire marshal, each
deputy fire marshal, certified local authorities, and state or municipal arson investigators, while
engaged in the performance of their duties as such, are authorized to conduct investigations and
make arrests.
