BY REPRESENTATIVES WILLMOTT, ADAMS, BILLIOT, CONNICK, LEOPOLD,
LORUSSO, STOKES, AND TALBOT AND SENATORS APPEL AND MARTINY
PARISH/JEFFERSON:  Provides relative to appeals of certain administrative adjudication
hearings in Jefferson Parish
AN ACT1
To enact R.S. 13:2575.1(C), relative to administrative adjudications in Jefferson Parish; to2
provide relative to appeals of administrative adjudication decisions regarding3
immovable property; and to provide for related matters.4
Notice of intention to introduce this Act has been published5
as provided by Article III, Section 13 of the Constitution of6
Louisiana.7
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:8
Section 1.  R.S. 13:2575.1(C) is hereby enacted to read as follows: 9
ยง2575.1.  Additional administrative adjudication procedures in Jefferson Parish10

C. In the parish of Jefferson, any person or any officer, department,12
commission, board, bureau, district, or any other agency of a municipality or the13
parish may appeal to the appropriate district court a determination of a hearing14

Abstract: Authorizes appeals by persons and local entities of administrative adjudications
of public health, housing, fire code, historic district, and environmental violations.
Present law (R.S. 13:2575) authorizes any municipality or parish to prescribe civil fines for
violation of public health, housing, fire code, environmental, and historic district ordinances.
Further authorizes any municipality or parish to establish an administrative adjudication
hearing procedure for violations of such ordinances.  Proposed law retains present law.
Present law (R.S. 13:2575.1) establishes additional, supplemental definitions and procedures
relative to present law exclusively for Jefferson Parish.  Proposed law retains present law.
Present law (R.S. 13:2575(H)) authorizes any person found in violation of a public health,
housing, fire code, environmental, or historic district ordinance by a hearing officer to appeal
the decision to the appropriate district court.
Proposed law for Jefferson Parish retains present law and further authorizes a political
subdivision or any instrumentality of a political subdivision to appeal a decision of a hearing
officer under present law. Requires such appeal to be filed in the appropriate district court.
