Abstract: Authorizes appeals by persons and local entities of administrative adjudications of
public health, housing, fire code, historic district, and environmental violations.
Present law (R.S. 13:2575) authorizes any municipality or parish to prescribe civil fines for
violation of public health, housing, fire code, environmental, and historic district ordinances.
Further authorizes any municipality or parish to establish an administrative adjudication hearing
procedure for violations of such ordinances.  Proposed law retains present law.
Present law (R.S. 13:2575.1) establishes additional, supplemental definitions and procedures
relative to present law exclusively for Jefferson Parish.  Proposed law retains present law.
Present law (R.S. 13:2575(H)) authorizes any person found in violation of a public health,
housing, fire code, environmental, or historic district ordinance by a hearing officer to appeal the
decision to the appropriate district court.
Proposed law for Jefferson Parish retains present law and further authorizes a political
subdivision or any instrumentality of a political subdivision to appeal a decision of a hearing
officer under present law.  Requires such appeal to be filed in the appropriate district court.
