Existing law (R.S. 13:2575) authorizes any municipality or parish to prescribe civil fines for
violation of public health, housing, fire code, environmental, and historic district ordinances.
Further authorizes any municipality or parish to establish an administrative adjudication
hearing procedure for violations of such ordinances.  New law retains existing law.
Existing law (R.S. 13:2575.1) establishes additional, supplemental definitions and
procedures relative to existing law exclusively for Jefferson Parish.  New law retains existing
law.
Existing law (R.S. 13:2575(H)) authorizes any person found in violation of a public health,
housing, fire code, environmental, or historic district ordinance by a hearing officer to appeal
the decision to the appropriate district court.
New law retains existing law and, in Jefferson Parish, further authorizes any party aggrieved
by an administrative adjudication to appeal a decision of a hearing officer under existing law.
Requires such appeal to be filed in the appropriate district court.
Effective August 1, 2013.
