Abstract: Authorizes the sheriff to use electronic monitoring equipment to supervise work
release inmates.
Present law provides for the establishment of work release programs administered by the sheriff.
Proposed law retains present law and authorizes the sheriff of each parish to use electronic
monitoring to supervise participants in the work release program.  Provides that an inmate
participating in the work release program may be required to pay a reasonable supervision fee to
the supervising agency to defray the cost of the electronic monitoring.
