Page 1 of 1 Price (HB 349) Act No. 152 Existing law defines the crime of simple escape and provides that if a person who is participating in a work release program commits the crime of simple escape, the court shall sentence the person to imprisonment for not less than six months nor more than one year. Prior law prohibited that existing law sentence from running concurrently to any other sentence imposed. New law amends prior law by providing the court with discretion as to whether to impose a sentence of imprisonment and by removing the provision which prohibits any sentence imposed for the simple escape from a work release program from running concurrently to any other sentence imposed. Effective August 1, 2013. (Amends R.S. 14:110(B)(1))
