TRANSPORTATION:  Provides relative to sponsorship of signs on certain state assets
AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 48:274.2, relative to advertisement placement on certain ferries,2
rights-of-way, and other assets of the department; to provide for the sponsorship of3
signs on state-owned assets; to provide an effective date; and to provide for related4
matters.5
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6
Section 1.  R.S. 48:274.2 is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 7
ยง274.2.  Placing of advertising signs on state-owned ferries8
The department shall regulate the placement, erection, and maintenance of9
advertising and sponsorship signs on state-owned ferries, rights-of-way, and assets10
of the department.  The Department of Transportation and Development shall11
establish appropriate and reasonable fees and promulgate rules and regulations in12
accordance with the Administrative Procedure Act to implement the provisions of13
this Section consistent with the national laws and standards promulgated pursuant14
to Title 23 of the United States Code.15
Section 2. The Act shall become effective upon signature of the governor or, if not16
signed by the governor, upon expiration of time for bills to become law without signature17
of the governor, as provided in Article III, Section 18, of the Constitution of Louisiana.  If18
vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become19

Abstract: Provides relative to sponsorship of signs on state-owned ferries, rights-of-way,
and assets. 
Present law provides that the Department of Transportation and Development shall regulate
the placement, erection, and maintenance of advertising signs on state-owned ferries.  The
department shall establish appropriate and reasonable fees for such advertisement in
accordance with the Administrative Procedure Act. Proposed law provides for the
department to also regulate the sponsorship of signs on state-owned ferries, as well as all
rights-of-way and assets of the department.
Proposed law provides that the rules and regulations promulgated by the department shall
also be consistent with federal standards pursuant to Title 23 of the U.S. Code.
Effective upon signature of governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action.
