Abstract: Repeals provisions providing for membership of La. High School Athletic
Association (LHSAA) employees in the Teachers' Retirement System of La. (TRSL) and
provides for refunds of employee contributions attributable to such membership.
Present law establishes TRSL and provides for who can be a member of such system.  	Proposed
law generally retains present law.
Present law provides for membership in TRSL for certain LHSAA employees.  Requires
membership for any director, secretary, staff member, or other individual employed by the
LHSAA on or before June 30, 2011, except that a person who was employed by the LHSAA
between July 1, 2000, and June 30, 2011, and does not have a valid La. teacher's certificate. 
Proposed law repeals present law.
Further provides that any active member who is in TRSL pursuant to present law on the effective
date of proposed law shall have his membership in the system terminated.  Such employee is
eligible for a refund of his employee contributions but is not eligible to receive any monies
attributable to employer contributions or interest.
Further provides that any deferred vested member of TRSL who has accrued service credit
pursuant to present law shall have all such credit abolished.  Such a  member shall be eligible for
a refund of employee contributions attributable to such credit but all service credit shall be
abolished.
Effective upon signature of governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action.
