WEAPONS: Provides that the crime of carrying a firearm or dangerous weapon on school property shall not apply to off-duty law enforcement officers AN ACT1 To amend and reenact R.S. 14:95.2(C)(1), relative to the crime of carrying a firearm or2 dangerous weapon on school property; to provide with respect to the carrying of a3 firearm or dangerous weapon by a law enforcement officer; and to provide for4 related matters.5 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6 Section 1. R.S. 14:95.2(C)(1) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:7 ยง95.2. Carrying a firearm, or dangerous weapon, by a student or nonstudent on8 school property, at school-sponsored functions , or in a firearm-free zone9 * * *10 C. Present law provides for the crime of carrying a firearm or dangerous weapon by a student or nonstudent on school property, at school-sponsored functions, or in a firearm-free zone. Provides that present law shall not apply to the carrying of a firearm or dangerous weapon by a law enforcement officer in the performance of his official duties. Proposed law deletes the requirement that the officer has to be in the performance of his official duties to be exempt from the crime. (Amends R.S. 14:95.2(C)(1))
