TRANSPORTATION DEPT: Requires DOTD to provide maps of highway priority projects by House and Senate districts to all members of the legislature AN ACT1 To amend and reenact R.S. 48:231(A), relative to the highway priority construction2 program; to provide for the presentation of the proposed program of construction to3 members of the legislature; and to provide for related matters.4 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5 Section 1. R.S. 48:231(A) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 6 ยง231. Final construction program for current fiscal year; public hearings; Joint7 Highway Priority Construction Committee; reports; review by legislature;8 restrictions on legislature9 A.(1) Beginning on October 1, 2010, and not later than October 1 first of each10 year thereafter, the department shall provide a proposed program of construction for11 the coming fiscal year to the Joint Highway Priority Construction Committee.12 (2) The committee shall hold public hearings in each highway district for the13 purpose of reviewing priorities for the coming fiscal year.14 (3) At each public hearing, the department shall provide each House and15 Senate member a map indicating the following regarding projects within their16 respective House or Senate districts:17 (a) All projects proposed for construction within their district for the coming18 fiscal year.19 (b) All completed projects within their district for the three previous fiscal20 years.21 HLS 13RS-1872 ENGROSSED HB NO. 721 Page 2 of 2 CODING: Words in struck through type are deletions from existing law; words underscored are additions. (4) The maps required to be provided to each House and Senate member1 pursuant to Paragraph (3) of this Subsection shall be made available to any person2 upon request following the public hearings.3 (5) A report based on the testimony received at said hearings shall be sent to4 the department. The department then shall create the final construction program for5 the coming fiscal year for submission to the legislature.6 (6) When this final construction program is communicated to the legislature7 for funding for the coming fiscal year, any project which the legislature determines8 is not in the proper order of priority in accordance with the factors stated in R.S.9 48:229 may be deleted by the legislature.
