BY REPRESENTATIVES JEFFERSON AND FANNIN
COMMENDATIONS: Commends Henry J. Kimp upon the celebration of his 81st birthday
and his many contributions to society
A RESOLUTION1
To commend Henry J. Kimp, longtime Jackson Parish resident and entrepreneur, upon the2
celebration of his eighty-first birthday and for his many contributions to Jackson3
Parish.4
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend Henry J. Kimp upon the joyous and5
momentous occasion of his eighty-first birthday; and6
WHEREAS, Mr. Kimp was born in Quitman, Louisiana, on May 23, 1932, served7
in the United States Army, and has traveled to many countries in Europe and throughout the8
world; and9
WHEREAS, Mr. Kimp is well-known for his entrepreneurship, having owned two10
gas stations in Dallas, Texas, and a music store and welding shop in Jackson Parish; and11
WHEREAS, Mr. Kimp has served his community as an alderman of North Hodge,12
was appointed mayor pro tempore, and served as a lake commissioner for Jackson Parish;13
and14
WHEREAS, Mr. Kimp was instrumental in organizing the Jackson High School15
Reunion and the Jackson Parish Sports Hall of Fame; and16
WHEREAS, Mr. Kimp is a faithful member of the Brown Grove Baptist Church,17
where he has served as chairman of the deacon ministry and as Sunday School18

WHEREAS, Mr. Kimp has been married to Odessa Williams Kimp for fifty-four1
years, and they are the proud parents of three children, four grandchildren, and two great-2
grandchildren; and3
WHEREAS, throughout his extraordinary life, Mr. Kimp has been an excellent4
citizen of the state of Louisiana and an outstanding husband, father, friend, and neighbor;5
and6
WHEREAS, Henry J. Kimp merits a special measure of commendation for his7
accomplishments and for the tremendous joy that he brings to all who know and love him.8
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the9
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Henry J. Kimp upon the celebration of his10
eighty-first birthday, does hereby recognize and record for posterity his outstanding11
accomplishments and singular contributions throughout his long and illustrious life, and does12
hereby extend enduring appreciation for the honor and pride that this wonderful man brings13
to his family, friends, community, Jackson Parish, and the state of Louisiana.14
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted15
to Henry J. Kimp.16
