ENROLLED Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2013 HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 130 BY REPRESENTATIVES JEFFERSON AND FANNIN A RESOLUTION To commend Henry J. Kimp, longtime Jackson Parish resident and entrepreneur, upon the celebration of his eighty- first birthday and for his many contributions to Jackson Parish. WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend Henry J. Kimp upon the joyous and momentous occasion of his eighty-first birthday; and WHEREAS, Mr. Kimp was born in Quitman, Louisiana, on May 23, 1932, served in the United States Army, and has traveled to many countries in Europe and throughout the world; and WHEREAS, Mr. Kimp is well-known for his entrepreneurship, having owned two gas stations in Dallas, Texas, and a music store and welding shop in Jackson Parish; and WHEREAS, Mr. Kimp has served his community as an alderman of North Hodge, was appointed mayor pro tempore, and served as a lake commissioner for Jackson Parish; and WHEREAS, Mr. Kimp was instrumental in organizing the Jackson High School Reunion and the Jackson Parish Sports Hall of Fame; and WHEREAS, Mr. Kimp is a faithful member of the Brown Grove Baptist Church, where he has served as chairman of the deacon ministry and as Sunday School superintendent; and WHEREAS, Mr. Kimp has been married to Odessa Williams Kimp for fifty-four years, and they are the proud parents of three children, four grandchildren, and two great- grandchildren; and WHEREAS, throughout his extraordinary life, Mr. Kimp has been an excellent citizen of the state of Louisiana and an outstanding husband, father, friend, and neighbor; and ENROLLEDHR NO. 130 Page 2 of 2 WHEREAS, Henry J. Kimp merits a special measure of commendation for his accomplishments and for the tremendous joy that he brings to all who know and love him. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Henry J. Kimp upon the celebration of his eighty-first birthday, does hereby recognize and record for posterity his outstanding accomplishments and singular contributions throughout his long and illustrious life, and does hereby extend enduring appreciation for the honor and pride that this wonderful man brings to his family, friends, community, Jackson Parish, and the state of Louisiana.
