HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 17
BY REPRESENTATIVE CHANEY
COMMENDATIONS:  Commends the Rayville High School girls basketball team on
winning the 2013 Class 3-A state championship
A RESOLUTION1
To commend and congratulate the players and coaches of the Rayville High School girls2
basketball team on winning the Class 3-A state championship.3
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend the Rayville High School girls basketball4
team on winning the Class 3-A Girls Basketball state championship; and5
WHEREAS, the Rayville High School girls basketball team made history on6
Thursday, March 7, 2013, with a 71-38 win over Baker High School, the first state girls7
basketball championship in school history; and8
WHEREAS, the team finished the 2012-2013 season with a phenomenal twenty-9
seven win and five loss record; and10
WHEREAS, Head Coach Amber Obaze-Ford, in her first season at Rayville High11
School, was selected as the 2013 Northeast Coach of the Year and District 2-3-A Coach of12
the Year; and13
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend La Dencia Johnson for being named as14
Co-Most Valuable Player for Class 2-3-A, Monroe Civic Center Tournament Most Valuable15
Player, Miss Basketball, Northeast Girls Player of the Year, and First Team All State; and16
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend Thomasina Minor for being named Class17
3-A Girls Most Valuable Player and First Team All District 2-3-A and Andreanna Jackson18
as Co-Most Valuable Player District 2-3-A; and19
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend Dameisha Daniels and Victoria Wilson20
for being named First Team All District 2-3-A; Shardal Johnson and Arielle Richardson for21 HLS 13RS-1207	ORIGINAL

being named Second Team All District 2-3-A; and Angelica Williams for being named1
Honorable Mention All District 2-3-A; and2
WHEREAS, the Rayville High School Lady Hornets bring a commanding sense of3
honor and immense pride to their school, the town of Rayville, and the state of Louisiana.4
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the5
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Rayville High School girls basketball6
team on winning the 2013 Class 3-A state championship, does hereby congratulate the7
players and coaches on an impressive and memorable season, does hereby record for8
posterity their historic accomplishments, and does hereby extend to them best wishes for9
continued success in the future.10
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted11
to Rayville High School Principal Tommy Watson and to Head Basketball Coach Amber12
Obaze-Ford.13
