HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 38

COMMENDATIONS: Commends the Delhi High School girls powerlifting team on
winning its first Division V state championship
A RESOLUTION1
To commend the Delhi High School girls powerlifting team on winning its first Division V2
state championship.3
WHEREAS, the Delhi High School girls powerlifting team completed a sensational4
season, earning the title of 2013 Division V state powerlifting champions by scoring a5
commanding fifty-five points at the Louisiana High School Powerlifting Association's state6
championship on March 16, 2013, twenty-one points higher than the runner-up team; and7
WHEREAS, the state powerlifting championship win was the culmination of another8
unforgettable and extraordinary season for Delhi, particularly since this is only the fourth9
season of the program at the school; and10
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend Dynesha Williams, Shaquoa Robinson,11
Raven Williams, Sharice Young, Selisha Percy, and Titiuanna Williams for placing first as12
the best lifters in their respective weight groups; and13
WHEREAS, in addition to her first-place finish, Dynesha Williams was named14
"Outstanding Lifter" in the one hundred sixty-five pound and higher weight class, scoring15
a Wilks Coefficient total of 775.4; and16
WHEREAS, the Delhi High School girls powerlifters displayed impeccable skill and17
focus throughout the season and each of these young women deserves a special measure of18

WHEREAS, the amazing accomplishments of the team could not have been achieved1
without the guidance and skill of head coach Jesse Esters, as well as all of the other2
individuals who have contributed to the success of the school's powerlifting program; and3
WHEREAS, the team's outstanding 2013 season upholds the glorious tradition of the4
Delhi High School athletics program, and all Delhi High School alumni and fans recognize5
the immense pride and distinguished honor that the team brings to its school, community,6
and state.7
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the8
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the 2012-2013 Delhi High School girls9
powerlifting team upon winning the 2013 Division V state powerlifting championship, does10
hereby record for posterity the immense pride that the team brings to the school, the town11
of Delhi, and the state of Louisiana, and does hereby extend best wishes to the lifters,12
coaches, and everyone involved with this fine powerlifting program as they celebrate their13
exceptional season and prepare for continued success in the future.14
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted15
to Delhi High School principal Kenneth R. Jenkins and Jesse Esters, head coach of the Delhi16
girls powerlifting team.17
