BY REPRESENTATIVE CHANEY
COMMENDATIONS: Commends the Delhi High School boys powerlifting team on
winning its third consecutive Division V state championship
A RESOLUTION1
To commend the Delhi High School boys powerlifting team on winning its third consecutive2
Division V state championship.3
WHEREAS, the Delhi High School boys powerlifting team completed a sensational4
season, earning the title of 2013 Division V state powerlifting champions by scoring forty-5
four points at the Louisiana High School Powerlifting Association's state championship on6
March 16, 2013, nine points higher than the runner-up team; and7
WHEREAS, the state powerlifting championship win was the culmination of another8
unforgettable and extraordinary season for Delhi, particularly since this is only the fourth9
season of the program at the school; and10
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend Jaquarius Tillery, Davious Thomas, and11
Rapheal Washington for placing first and LaDarion Morse, Solon Dixon, and Dylan Jackson,12
for placing second as the best lifters in their respective weight groups; and13
WHEREAS, the Delhi High School boys powerlifters displayed impeccable skill and14
focus throughout the season and each of these young men deserves a special measure of15
commendation for his vital contribution to the success of the team; and16
WHEREAS, the amazing accomplishments of the team could not have been achieved17
without the guidance and skill of head coach Jesse Esters, as well as all of the other18
individuals who have contributed to the success of the school's powerlifting program; and19
WHEREAS, the team's outstanding 2013 season upholds the glorious tradition of the20
Delhi High School athletics program, and all Delhi High School alumni and fans recognize21 HLS 13RS-1396 ORIGINAL

the immense pride and distinguished honor that the team brings to its school, community,1
and state.2
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the3
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the 2012-2013 Delhi High School boys4
powerlifting team upon winning the 2013 Division V state powerlifting championship for5
the third consecutive year, does hereby record for posterity the immense pride that the team6
brings to the school, the town of Delhi, and the state of Louisiana, and does hereby extend7
best wishes to the lifters, coaches, and everyone involved with this fine powerlifting program8
as they celebrate their exceptional season and prepare for continued success in the future.9
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted10
to Delhi High School principal Kenneth R. Jenkins and Jesse Esters, head coach of the Delhi11
High School boys powerlifting team.12
