HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 81
BY REPRESENTATIVE JEFFERSON
A RESOLUTION
To commend Mrs. Doris Mott Robinson upon the celebration of her ninety-fourth birthday
and to record for posterity her many contributions to the Grambling community.
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend Mrs. Doris Mott Robinson, the mother of
Grambling football, upon the memorable occasion of her ninety-fourth birthday and to honor
and celebrate her lifetime of outstanding accomplishments; and
WHEREAS, Doris Mott was born on May 2, 1919, in Wilson, Louisiana, and
graduated from McKinley High School in Baton Rouge; and
WHEREAS, Doris Mott attended Southern University from 1936-1938 and then
transferred to Leland College where she graduated with a bachelor's degree on May 15,
1941; and
WHEREAS, on June 24, 1941, Doris Mott married Eddie Robinson, the longtime
coach of Grambling State University's football team who would eventually hold the record
for most wins by a single coach in NCAA history, and moved to Grambling, Louisiana, that
same year; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Robinson taught for many years in the Lincoln Parish School
System at Friendship Elementary, Lincoln Elementary, Lincoln High School, and eventually
Ruston High School, where she served as a counselor; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Robinson is a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother,
and great-great-grandmother to her children, Lillian Rose and Eddie, Jr., five grandchildren,
nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Robinson has worked hard all of her life, loves to meet with family
members and friends to quilt, and believes in keeping a garden to produce fresh vegetables;

WHEREAS, Mrs. Robinson has been a faithful member of New Rocky Valley
Baptist Church for many years and also holds membership in the National Education
Association, the Louisiana Association of Educators, the National Association for the
Advancement of Colored People, Links, the Grambling Chapter of the American Business
Women's Association, and Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Robinson merits a special measure of commendation for the
tremendous pride and honor that she brings to her family, friends, community, and state.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Mrs. Doris Mott Robinson, the mother of
Grambling football, upon the momentous occasion of her ninety-fourth birthday, does
hereby recognize and record for posterity the extraordinary life she has lived thus far, does
hereby extend enduring gratitude for the contributions she has made to her family,
community, and society, and does hereby wish her full measures of health and happiness in
the years to come. 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to Mrs. Doris Mott Robinson.
