Allows the placement of voter registration application forms at certain retailers selling firearms. (gov sig) AN ACT1 To enact R.S. 18:118, relative to voter registration forms; to provide for the availability of2 voter registration cards by firearm retailers; to provide for registration with the3 secretary of state to receive voter registration information and procedures; to provide4 for definitions and to provide for related matters.5 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6 Section 1. R.S. 18:118 is hereby enacted to read as follows: 7 ยง118. Voter registration application form availability; firearm retailers8 A. It is the intention of the legislature to increase the participation in the9 electoral process by the citizens of the state. Therefore, voter registration10 application forms, as provided for in this Section, may be made available to11 purchasers of firearms at the point of purchase from firearm retailers located12 in the state.13 B. (2) "Firearm retailer" means any retailer who possesses a Type 011 Federal Firearms License and employs twenty-five or more full-time employees.2 C. Firearm retailers who make voter registration applications available3 may register with the secretary of state to receive voter registration information4 and procedures.5 Section 2. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not6 signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature7 by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana. If8 vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become9 effective on the day following such approval.10 The original instrument was prepared by James Benton.
