Riser (SB 178) Act No. 405
New law provides that voter registration application forms may be made available to
purchasers of firearms at the point of purchase from firearms retailers located in the state.
New law defines "firearm retailer" as any retailer who possesses Type 01 Federal Firearms
License, and employs 25 or more full-time employees.
New law defines "firearm" as any pistol, revolver, rifle or shotgun that is designed to fire or
is capable of firing fixed cartridge ammunition or from which a shot or projectile is
discharged by an explosive.
New law provides that firearm retailers who make voter registration applications available
may register with the secretary of state to receive voter registration information and
procedures.
Effective upon signature of the governor (June 19, 2013).
