Provides for salaries of judges as recommended by the Judicial Compensation Commission. (gov sig) AN ACT1 To enact R.S. 13:50, relative to certain judicial salaries; to provide for salary increases for2 judges of the supreme court, courts of appeal, district courts, city courts, and parish3 courts as recommended by the Judicial Compensation Commission; and to provide4 for related matters.5 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6 Section 1. R.S. 13:50 is hereby enacted to read as follows: 7 ยง50. Salary as recommended by the Judicial Compensation Commission8 Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary and subject9 to an annual appropriation for such purposes:10 (1)(a) Effective July 1, 2013, the actual salary of the judges of the11 supreme court, courts of appeal, and district courts shall be increased as12 follows:13 (i ) Supreme court โ five and one-half percent.14 (ii) Courts of appeal โ three and seven-tenths percent.15 (iii) District courts โ four percent.16 (b) The actual salary of the judges of the supreme court, courts of17 SB NO. 188 SLS 13RS-183 ORIGINAL Page 2 of 2 Coding: Words which are struck through are deletions from existing law; words in boldface type and underscored are additions. appeal, and district courts shall be increased by two and one-tenth percent on1 July first of 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017.2 (2)(a) Effective July 1, 2013, the state-paid actual salary of the judges of3 city courts and parish courts shall be increased by four percent.4 (b) The state-paid actual salary of the judges of city courts and parish5 courts shall be increased by two and one-tenth percent on July first of 2014,6 2015, 2016, and 2017.7 Section 2. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not8 signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature9 by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana. If10 vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become11 effective on the day following such approval.12 The original instrument and the following digest, which constitutes no part of the legislative instrument, were prepared by Michelle Ducharme. DIGEST Proposed law provides that effective July 1, 2013, the actual salary of the judges of the supreme court, courts of appeal, and district courts shall be increased as follows: (a) Supreme court - 5.5%. (b) Courts of appeal - 3.7%. (c) District court - 4%. Proposed law provides that the actual salary of the judges of the supreme court, courts of appeal, and district courts shall be increased by 2.1% on July 1 st of 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017. Proposed law provides that effective July 1, 2013, the state-paid actual salary of city court and parish court judges shall be increased by 4%. Proposed law provides that the state-paid salary of city court and parish court judges shall be increased by 2.1% on July 1 st of 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017.
