Provides for board membership of the Municipal Employees' Retirement System. (6/30/13) AN ACT1 To amend and reenact R.S. 11:1821(B), relative to the Municipal Employees' Retirement2 System; to provide for membership of the board of trustees; to provide for an3 effective date; and to provide for related matters.4 Notice of intention to introduce this Act has been published.5 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6 Section 1. R.S. 11:1821(B) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 7 ยง1821. Board of trustees; membership; term of office; oath of office; compensation;8 voting power; vacancies9 * * *10 B. Retirement Committee, or his designee, who shall serve as a voting ex officio1 member; and one of whom shall be the chairman of the House Committee on2 Retirement Committee of the Legislature of Louisiana, or his designee, who shall3 serve as a voting ex officio member; one of whom shall be the commissioner of4 administration who shall be a nonvoting member, or his designee; and one of5 whom shall be the state treasurer who shall be a nonvoting member, or his6 designee.7 * * *8 Section 2. This Act shall become effective on June 30, 2013; if vetoed by the9 governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this act shall become effective on10 June 30, 2013, or on the day following such approval by the legislature, whichever is later.11 The original instrument was prepared by Margaret M. DIGEST Peacock (SB 2) Present law provides for the membership of the board of trustees for the Municipal Employees' Retirement System (MERS). Proposed law provides for two additional members on the MERS board of trustees: (1)The commissioner of administration or his designee, who shall be a nonvoting member. (2)The state treasurer or his designee, who shall be a nonvoting member. Effective June 30, 2013.
