Authorizes "I'm a Cajun" on driver's license and identification cards. (1/1/14) AN ACT1 To enact R.S. 32:412(L) and R.S. 40:1321(L), relative to "I'm a Cajun" on a driver's license2 and identification card; to provide for the exhibition of the designation "I'm a Cajun"3 on a driver's license and identification card; to authorize collection of a fee for the4 "I'm a Cajun" designation; to provide for the disbursement of fees collected to the5 Council for the Development of French in Louisiana; and to provide for related6 matters.7 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:8 Section 1. R.S. 32:412(L) is hereby enacted to read as follows:9 §412. Amount of fees; credit or refund; duration of license; veteran designation;10 "I'm a Cajun" designation; disbursement of funds; renewal by mail11 or electronic commerce of Class "D" or "E" drivers' licenses;12 disposition of certain fees; exception13 * * *14 L. (1) Upon request and payment of an additional fee, the designation15 "I'm a Cajun" shall be exhibited in the color black below the person's16 photograph on the driver's license regardless of its class. This fee shall5 be in addition to the payment of any driver's license fee.6 (3) The monies received from the additional fee shall be disbursed7 quarterly by the department to the Council for the Development of French in8 Louisiana.9 (4) The deputy secretary of the Department of Public Safety and10 Corrections, public safety services, shall establish rules and regulations as are11 necessary to implement the provisions of this Subsection.12 Section 2. R.S. 40:1321(L) is hereby enacted to read as follows:13 §1321. Special identification cards; issuance; veteran designation; "I'm a Cajun"14 designation; fees; expiration and renewal; exceptions; promulgation15 of rules; promotion of use; persons less than twenty-one years of age;16 the Protect and Save our Children Program; Selective Service17 Registration18 * * *19 L. (1) Upon request and payment of an additional fee, the designation20 "I'm a Cajun" shall be exhibited in the color black below the person's21 photograph on the special identification card. DIGEST Proposed law provides for exhibition of the designation "I'm a Cajun" in the color black below the person's photograph on a driver's license or identification card, upon request and payment of an additional annual fee of five dollars. Proposed law provides for collection of the fee by the Department of Public Safety and Corrections (DPSC) and quarterly disbursement of fees collected to the Council for the Development of French in Louisiana (CODOFIL).
