Proposed law provides for exhibition of the designation "I'm a Cajun" in the color black below
the person's photograph on a driver's license or identification card, upon request and payment of
an additional annual fee of five dollars. 
Proposed law provides for collection of the fee by the Department of Public Safety and
Corrections (DPSC) and quarterly disbursement of monies collected to the Council for the
Development of French in Louisiana (CODOFIL).
Proposed law requires CODOFIL to disburse the monies received from the fee solely to fund
scholarships for its "La Fondation Louisiane for the Escadrille Louisiane" scholarship program.
Proposed law requires the DPSC to establish rules and regulations as necessary for
implementation.
Effective January 1, 2014.
