DIGEST
Present law prohibits an insurer from canceling or failing to renew any homeowners' insurance
policy based solely on the presence of installed Chinese drywall in the insured's property or the
filing of a claim by an insured that is based on the presence of Chinese drywall. Further provides
penalties for any violation.
Present law sunsets after July 1, 2013.
Proposed law retains present law and changes the sunset date to July 1, 2016.
Effective June 30, 2013.
