CLERKS OF COURT. Provides for the payment of group insurance premiums of certain
retirees of the clerk of court's office in East Baton Rouge Parish. (8/1/13)
AN ACT1
To enact R.S. 13:783(F)(8), relative to expenses of the offices of clerks of courts; to require2
the payment of group insurance premium costs for certain retired personnel in East3
Baton Rouge Parish; to provide for eligibility; and to provide for related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1. R.S. 13:783(F)(8) is hereby enacted to read as follows: 6

(8) The clerk of court of East Baton Rouge Parish shall pay from the10
clerk's salary fund, one hundred percent of the premium costs of the group life11
and accidental death and dismemberment, group health, accident, dental,12
hospital, surgical, or other medical expense insurance for any clerk or employee13
that retires from the East Baton Rouge Parish clerk of court's office who is14
entitled to receive monthly benefits from the Louisiana Clerks' of Court15
Retirement and Relief Fund who has at least twelve years of full-time service16
with the clerk of court's office in East Baton Rouge Parish and who is at least17 SB NO. 46

fifty-five years of age. The provisions of this Paragraph shall not apply to any1
other insurance, such as supplemental insurance, that any clerk or any2
employee may elect to purchase.3

Proposed law requires payment of 100% of insurance premium costs for any clerk or
employee who retires from the East Baton Rouge Parish clerk of court's office who is
entitled to receive monthly benefits from the LA Clerks' of Court Retirement and Relief
Fund who has at least 12 years of service and who is at least 55 years of age.
Effective August 1, 2013.
