INSURANCE DEPARTMENT. Increases the continuing education requirements from six
to twelve hours of approved instruction for title insurance producers. (8/1/13)
AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 22:1573(L), relative to continuing education requirements for2
title insurance producers; to provide for required hours of instruction for license3
renewal; and to provide for related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1.  R.S. 22:1573(L) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 6

L. Title Beginning with license renewals effective in 2015, title producers9
licensed pursuant to Subpart R of Part 1 of Chapter 2 of this Title, R.S. 22:511 et10
seq., shall complete six twelve hours of approved instruction or verifiable approved11
self-study prior to the renewal of the license with at least two hours dedicated to12
matters related to state and federal consumer finance protection laws.13

Present law requires title insurance producers to complete six hours of approved instruction
prior to license renewal.
Proposed law requires, with renewals effective in 2015, 12 hours of approved instruction or
verifiable approved self-study prior to license renewal with at least two hours dedicated to
matters related to state and federal consumer finance protection laws.
Effective August 1, 2013.
