AN ACT1 To enact R.S. 14:67.29, relative to misappropriation without violence; to create the crime2 of false personation of a veteran or fraudulent representation of a veteran-owned3 business; to provide for definitions; to provide penalties; and to provide for related4 matters.5 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6 Section 1. R.S. 14:67.29 is hereby enacted to read as follows: 7 ยง67.29. False personation of a veteran or fraudulent representation of a8 veteran-owned business9 A. False personation of a veteran is the false representation by a person10 of being a veteran, with the intent to injure, defraud, obtain economic gain, or11 obtain or secure any special privilege or advantage.12 B. Fraudulent representation of a veteran-owned business is the false13 representation by an owner, operator, principal, or employee of a business that14 the business is owned by a veteran or is a service-connected disabled veteran-15 owned business, with the intent to injure, defraud, obtain economic gain, or16 obtain or secure any special privilege or advantage.17 C. For the purposes of this Section, "veteran" means a person who has18 served in the armed services or reserve forces of the United States or Louisiana19 National Guard.20 D. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not1 signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature2 by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana.
