Clement, Jr. DIGEST Adley (SB 60) Proposed law creates the crime of false personation of a veteran or veteran-owned business. Proposed law defines false personation of a veteran as the false representation by a person of being a veteran, with the intent to injure, defraud, obtain economic gain, or obtain or secure any special privilege or advantage. Proposed law defines false personation of a veteran-owned business as the false representation by an owner, operator, principal, or employee of a business that the business is a veteran-owned business or is a service-connected disabled veteran-owned business, with the intent to injure, defraud, obtain economic gain, or obtain or secure any special privilege or advantage. Proposed law defines "veteran" as a person who has served in the armed services or reserve forces of the United States or Louisiana National Guard. Proposed law provides that whoever commits the crime of false personation of a veteran or veteran-owned business is to be fined not more than $1,000, or imprisoned for not more than six months, or both. Effective upon signature of the governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action. (Adds R.S. 14:67.29)
