CLERKS OF COURT. Provides for the payment of medical insurance premiums of certain
retirees of the clerk of court's office in St. James Parish. (8/1/13)
AN ACT1
To enact R.S. 13:783(F)(8), relative to expenses of the offices of clerks of courts; to require2
the payment of medical insurance premium costs for certain retired personnel in St.3
James Parish; to provide for eligibility; and to provide for related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1. R.S. 13:783(F)(8) is hereby enacted to read as follows: 6

(8) The clerk of court of St. James Parish shall pay from the clerk's10
salary fund, one hundred percent of the premium costs of the group life and11
accidental death and dismemberment, group health, accident, dental, hospital,12
surgical, or other medical expense insurance for any clerk or employee that13
retires from the St. James Parish clerk of court's office who is entitled to receive14
monthly benefits from the Louisiana Clerks' of Court Retirement and Relief15
Fund who has at least twelve years of full-time service with the clerk of court's16
office in St. James Parish and who is at least fifty-five years of age. The17 SB NO. 66

provisions of this Paragraph shall not apply to any other insurance, such as1
supplemental insurance, that an employee may elect to purchase.2

DIGEST
Proposed law requires payment of 100% of insurance premium costs for any clerk or
employee who retires from the St. James Parish clerk of court's office who is entitled to
receive monthly benefits from the LA Clerks' of Court Retirement and Relief Fund who has
at least 12 years of service and who is at least 55 years of age.
Effective August 1, 2013.
