SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 104
BY SENATOR CLAITOR 
COMMENDATIONS.  Commends the Louisiana Varsity Sports Women's Team and Men's
Team on their participation and achievements in the 2013 Boston Marathon.
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1
To commend and congratulate the Louisiana Varsity Sports Women's Team and Men's2
Team on their participation and success in the 2013 Boston Marathon.3
WHEREAS, Varsity Sports of Baton Rouge sponsored a men's and a women's team4
in the recent Boston Marathon pitting the team members against runners from big states,5
large cities, and from all around the world; and 6
WHEREAS, the two teams were among ninety-five participants in the race from the7
state of Louisiana; and8
WHEREAS, the Louisiana Varsity Sports Women's Team of Hannah Amoroso,9
Rebecca Bokun, Kim Dominick, Megan Gohres, Erin Oswalt, Rosalie L. Teeuwen, Sarah10
R. Truxillo, and Charlotte E. Werhan was led by Rosalie L. Teeuwen with a time of 2:51:0811
and finished third among thirty-one teams; and 12
WHEREAS, the Men's Team, which included Brother Elias Eichorn, Adam13
Macdowell, Matthew T. Manning, Jacob Marsh, Donald Quintana, Jonathan Thomas, and14
Mark Truxillo, finished second among fifty-nine teams with Adam Macdowell posting a15
time of 2:20:38; and 16
WHEREAS, the teams were coached, sponsored, and organized by Jenni Peters; and17
WHEREAS, the team members, through individual effort and dedication, qualified18 SCR NO. 104

for and participated in the event, pushing themselves past previous limits over a course that1
is famous for breaking overly ambitious runners; and2
WHEREAS, none of the members of the Varsity Sports teams were injured by the3
bomb blasts that marred the event and were able to avoid the tragic and gory scene for the4
most part as many of them had already finished the 26.2 mile race; and5
WHEREAS, the members of the teams had little time to celebrate their achievements,6
however, as the afternoon was spent frantically locating each other and reassuring family and7
friends that they were unharmed.8
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Legislature of Louisiana that the members9
of the Louisiana Varsity Sports Women's Team and Men's Team are hereby commended and10
congratulated for their individual and team achievements in the 2013 Boston Marathon.11
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this Resolution be transmitted to12
Hannah Amoroso, Rebecca Bokun, Kim Dominick, Megan Gohres, Erin Oswalt, Rosalie L.13
Teeuwen, Sarah R. Truxillo, Charlotte E. Werhan, Brother Elias Eichorn, Adam Macdowell,14
Matthew T. Manning, Jacob Marsh, Donald Quintana, Jonathan Thomas, Mark Truxillo, and15
Jenni Peters.16
