SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 118

LEGIS POWERS/FUNCTIONS. Commends the River Region Caucus and its member
parishes for their cooperative efforts toward improving the quality of life in the region and
designates June 4, 2013, as River Region Caucus Day at the Louisiana Legislature.
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1
To commend the River Region Caucus and its member parishes for their cooperative efforts2
toward improving the quality of life in the region and designate June 4, 2013, as3
River Region Caucus Day at the Louisiana Legislature.4
WHEREAS, formed in 1998, the River Region Caucus is comprised of the governing5
bodies of Ascension, St. Charles, St. James, and St. John the Baptist parishes; and6
WHEREAS, the mission of the caucus is to seek regional cooperation among the four7
participating parishes on various issues and to work together as a regional alliance to solve8
common problems; and9
WHEREAS, because the region shares similar challenges and values and because the10
parishes are a part of the same economic region, the caucus has several common collective11
goals, including increasing awareness for state policy and decision makers on issues related12
to infrastructure improvements, transportation and safety, traffic management, community13
development, environmental planning, economic development, coastal erosion and port14
facility improvements; working cooperatively to maximize their images, services, and15
communities; improving the quality of life for their citizens through better communication;16
identifying and planning opportunities to promote and advance the culture and interests of17
the river region; and increasing awareness of and educating the public and statewide decision18 SCR NO. 118

makers about the region; and1
WHEREAS, the River Region Caucus merits a special measure of commendation for2
its significant contributions toward meeting the needs of the citizens of Ascension, St.3
Charles, St. James, and St. John the Baptist parishes and for the pride and honor it brings to4
the river region and to the state of Louisiana.5
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby6
commend the River Region Caucus and its member parishes for their cooperative efforts7
toward improving the quality of life in the region and designate June 4, 2013, as River8
Region Caucus Day at the Louisiana Legislature. 9
