Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2013 ENROLLED SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 124 BY SENATORS MURRAY AND ALARIO AND REPRESENTATIVES HENRY, LEGER AND LORUSSO A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON To commend the Jesuit High School Blue Jays varsity lacrosse team on winning the 2013 Louisiana state championship. WHEREAS, the Jesuit High School varsity lacrosse team completed a sensational season and earned the 2013 state championship title by defeating the St. Paul's High School Wolves by a score of 6-5 on April 28, 2013; and WHEREAS, the championship win was the culmination of another unforgettable season; and WHEREAS, the team performed at the highest level of excellence throughout the 2013 season and the playoffs and each of them deserves recognition for his vital contributions toward the winning effort; and WHEREAS, Austin Triay scored the game-winning goal and earned the honor of Most Valuable Player-Offense; and WHEREAS, Jorge Abadin held the opposing team to five goals and earned the honor of Most Valuable Player-Defense; and WHEREAS, defensive standouts Antonio Scelfo, Steven Fall, Chris Powers, Trip LeCorgne, and Robert Montenegro disrupted the Wolves' scoring; and WHEREAS, Arman Alizadeh, Zach Tassin, Brandon Barnett, Thomas Nimmo, and Austin Triay scored the goals for the Blue Jays; and WHEREAS, the amazing accomplishments of the team could not have been achieved without the guidance and skills of Coach Mike Brantley and the assistant coaches, as well as all of the other individuals who have contributed to the success of the Jesuit High School Blue Jays varsity lacrosse team; and SCR NO. 124 ENROLLED Page 2 of 2 WHEREAS, the team's outstanding 2013 season upholds the glorious tradition of the Blue Jays, and all Jesuit High School alumni and fans recognize the immense pride and distinguished honor that the team brings to its school, its community, and to the state of Louisiana. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend and congratulate the Jesuit High School Blue Jays varsity lacrosse team on winning the 2013 Louisiana High School state championship and does hereby extend best wishes to the players, coaches, and everyone involved with the outstanding lacrosse program as they celebrate their exceptional season and prepare for continued success in the future. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the president of Jesuit High School, Fr. Raymond Fitzgerald, and to the coach of the varsity lacrosse team, Mike Brantley.
