SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 25
BY SENATOR GALLOT 
HOSPITALS.  Requests the LSU Board of Supervisors and the governor to keep the Huey
P. Long Medical Center open and viable.
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1
To urge and request the Board of Supervisors of Louisiana State University and Agricultural2
and Mechanical College and the governor to keep the Huey P. Long Medical Center3
open and viable.4
WHEREAS, the Huey P. Long Medical Center in Pineville serves a clear and5
important mission in the delivery of health care to the citizens of central Louisiana; and6
WHEREAS, the Huey P. Long Medical Center is one of the largest employers in7
Rapides Parish; and8
WHEREAS, the Huey P. Long Medical Center provides primary, clinic, and9
emergency health care to patients of low to moderate income as well as those restricted to10
physicians and facilities who accept Medicare and Medicaid assignments; and11
WHEREAS, the Huey P. Long Medical Center provides health care not only to the12
residents of Rapides Parish but also to residents of at least eight other parishes in central13
Louisiana; and14
WHEREAS, the Huey P. Long Medical Center has a long and outstanding record of15
having one of the best medical training facilities in all of Louisiana.16
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby17
urge and request the Board of Supervisors of Louisiana State University and Agricultural18 SCR NO. 25

and Mechanical College and the governor to keep the Huey P. Long Medical Center open1
and viable.2
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the3
Board of Supervisors of Louisiana State University and Agricultural and Mechanical College4
and the governor.5
