SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 31

COMMENDATIONS. Commends Hahnville High School head football coach Lou Valdin
on being awarded the All-District Coach of the Year award.
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1
To commend and congratulate Lou Valdin on being awarded All-District Coach of the Year.2
WHEREAS, it is with great pride that the citizens of Louisiana have learned of the3
All District Coach of the Year honor bestowed upon Lou Valdin; and4
WHEREAS, this award marks the seventh for Coach Lou Valdin most recently5
including last year and in 2009; and6
WHEREAS, although the Hahnville Tigers began the season with a 0-4 record7
marking it the single worst start in Valdin's coaching career, he and his coaching staff led8
this Cinderella team to a turn around season winning six straight games and a district9
championship before losing out in the second round of the playoffs; and10
WHEREAS, while he has won the award seven times, he is not much on post season11
accolades and modestly shrugs off his honors saying that the award is more of a reflection12
of the coaching staff as a whole rather than him as an individual; and13
WHEREAS, he always says it is not about him but about the kids, and that his role14
is to provide a good organization for Hahnville High School students, but anytime he gets15
good publicity for Hahnville football it is a good thing; and16
WHEREAS, the success of the state of Louisiana, the strength of our communities,17
and the overall vitality of American society, depends, in great measure, upon extraordinary,18 SCR NO. 31

great and modest legends like Lou Valdin, who not only coach but mold our young boys into1
strong, determined, and proud young men. 2
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby3
honor, commend and congratulate Coach Lou Valdin on being named All-District Coach of4
the Year.5
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be presented to Coach6
Lou Valdin.7
