Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2013 ENROLLED SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 31 BY SENATORS GARY SMITH AND BROWN AND REPRESENTATIVES MILLER AND WILLMOTT A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON To commend and congratulate Lou Valdin on being awarded All-District Coach of the Year. WHEREAS, it is with great pride that the citizens of Louisiana have learned of the All District Coach of the Year honor bestowed upon Lou Valdin; and WHEREAS, this award is the seventh for Coach Lou Valdin, most recently including last year and in 2009; and WHEREAS, although the Hahnville Tigers began the season with a 0-4 record making it the single worst start in Valdin's coaching career; he and his coaching staff led this Cinderella team to a turn-around season winning six straight games and a district championship before being eliminated in the second round of the playoffs; and WHEREAS, while he has won the award seven times, he is not much on post season accolades and modestly shrugs off his honors saying that the award is more of a reflection of the coaching staff as a whole rather than of him as an individual; and WHEREAS, he always says it is not about him but about the kids, that his role is to provide a good organization for Hahnville High School students, and anytime he gets good publicity for Hahnville football it is a good thing; and WHEREAS, the success of the state of Louisiana, the strength of our communities, and the overall vitality of American society, depends, in great measure, upon extraordinary, great and modest legends like Lou Valdin, who not only coach but mold our young boys into strong, determined, and proud young men. SCR NO. 31 ENROLLED Page 2 of 2 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby honor, commend and congratulate Coach Lou Valdin on being named All-District Coach of the Year.
