SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 38
BY SENATOR BROWN AND REPRESENTATI VE PRICE 
COMMENDATIONS.  Commends Robert Lee Jackson Sr. for his years of dedicated service
to his community.
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1
To commend Robert Lee Jackson Sr. for his many years of dedication and service to his2
community and his country.3
WHEREAS, Robert Lee Jackson Sr. was born on December 4, 1939, to the great joy4
and celebration of his proud parents, the late Sherman and Alice T. Jackson of Geismar,5
Louisiana; and6
WHEREAS, as a youth, Robert became a member of the Mount Pilgrim Baptist7
Church and at the age of twelve, he was baptized by the church and accepted Jesus Christ8
as his personal savior; and9
WHEREAS, Robert Lee Jackson Sr. learned many important lessons from his parents10
and his church and grew into manhood with great respect for his neighbors and a heart full11
of love for his family; and12
WHEREAS, in one of the greatest moments of his life he met and fell deeply in love13
with the late Brenda P. Jackson of Hilliaryville, Louisiana, and in 1961 he asked for her hand14
in marriage and she accepted; and15
WHEREAS, during the course of their marriage, three children, Lamaralus, Robert16
Jr. and Sherman, were born and raised in a home full of love, respect and God; and17

WHEREAS, Robert supported his family with his dedication and hard work as a full-1
time school bus driver and supplemented that income by working a second job as an2
employee at a Texaco gasoline station; and3
WHEREAS, Robert Lee Jackson Sr. was always seeking new avenues by which he4
could move up, make progress, and take better care of his family and with that in mind, he5
sought employment and was hired by the Uniroyal Chemical Plant in Geismar, Louisiana;6
and7
WHEREAS, he used much of what he learned at Uniroyal about the chemical8
industry in order to get a better position at BASF Chemical Plant as an operator and an9
instrument technician; and10
WHEREAS, Robert had a very successful career with BASF, where he would work11
for seventeen years, but he was always busy, working to better himself and his family, and12
ultimately he would create his own company, Robert Jackson Enterprises, LLC, as he13
continued his life's journey; and14
WHEREAS, in 1971, he was one of the founders of the Geismar Volunteer Fire15
Department, where he served as president for forty years; and16
WHEREAS, Robert would serve for eighteen years on the Jambalaya Festival17
Association of Gonzales, Louisiana; and18
WHEREAS, Robert Lee Jackson Sr. withstood the loneliness of being a widower19
until he met Louvenia S. Jackson of Cottonport, Louisiana, and in 1973 they were married20
and began a family of their own that included two children, Daymon and Derrick; and21
WHEREAS, Robert Lee Jackson Sr. never lost his love of his neighbors and his22
community and he continued his public service as a member of the Ascension Parish Fair23
Association for twenty years, all while he was a member of the State Airport Committee of24
Gonzales; and25
WHEREAS, he never forgot his church and his God as he faithfully served as a26
member of the trustee board at First Pilgrim Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, where he27
was often heard saying "I ain't scared" and "everything is lubby dubby".28
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby29
extend its highest commendations and recognition to Robert Lee Jackson Sr. for a life well30 SCR NO. 38

spent as a leader in his community, his church and his family.1
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to2
Robert Lee Jackson Sr.3
