LEGIS POWERS/FUNCTIONS.  Recognizes May 12-18, 2013, as "National Women's
Health Week".
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1
To recognize May 12-18, 2013, as "National Women's Health Week".2
WHEREAS, National Women's Health Week celebrates the extraordinary progress3
in women's health and recognizes that more needs to be done to safeguard the health of4
women for generations to come; and5
WHEREAS, women from all walks of life and at every stage of life have unique6
health needs that should be addressed in their own right; and7
WHEREAS, keeping women healthy and safe and promoting awareness of women's8
health issues depends on partnerships with social, health, and other services; and9
WHEREAS, women can promote health and prevent disease and illness by taking10
simple steps to improve their physical, mental, social, and spiritual health; and11
WHEREAS, women's health remains a priority for families, communities, and12
government, and our commitment to keeping women healthy is stronger than ever; and13
WHEREAS, during the week following Mother's Day, the Louisiana Department of14
Health and Hospitals, office of public health and its partners will work together to improve15
awareness of key women's health issues in our state.16
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby17
recognize the week following Mother's Day, Sunday May 12 through Saturday May 18,18 SCR NO. 70

2013, as "National Women's Health Week".1
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the2
office of public health of the Department of Health and Hospitals.3
