Commends the Westminster Christian Academy Crusaders for Life on being the first student-led, pro-life group on campus. A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1 To commend the Westminster Christian Academy Crusaders for Life on being the first2 student-led, pro-life group on campus.3 WHEREAS, Crusaders for Life is a student-led, pro-life group on a mission to honor4 God by actively defending life from conception to natural death; and5 WHEREAS, the group is comprised of seventy-five members from the seventh6 through the twelfth grades; and7 WHEREAS, during the inaugural membership drive, students brought baby shower8 gifts to a luncheon and those gifts were donated to A Pregnancy Center and Clinic which9 assists women with unplanned pregnancies; and10 WHEREAS, members of Crusaders for Life have proclaimed themselves the "Pro-11 Life Generation"; and12 WHEREAS, they have dedicated their time to raising awareness of the fifty-three13 million lives that have been lost since the Roe v. Wade decision by the United States14 Supreme Court in 1973; and15 WHEREAS, they believe that prayer is their most powerful tool for conquering the16 culture of death; and17 WHEREAS, they also believe that through education and prayer, they will put their18 SCR NO. 92 SLS 13RS-1695 ORIGINAL Page 2 of 2 principles to action and strive to inspire others to do the same; and1 WHEREAS, Crusaders for Life has been involved in praying and counseling at2 abortion clinics, and members have attended the March for Life in Washington, D.C., the3 "Pro-life Flashmobs", and the Mindszenty and TeenSpeak conferences; and4 WHEREAS, they have created pro-life events such as Lifeapalooza and Jingle Bell5 Jive, and volunteered at women's centers, parades, and pro-life benefit dinners; and6 WHEREAS, additional activities in which members have participated during the7 organization's inaugural year include Festival for Life, Pro-Life Chalk Day, Beyond the Vote8 2012, Cemetery of the Innocents, and the St. Landry Parish Walk for Life; and9 WHEREAS, the Westminster Christian Academy Crusaders for Life have shown10 courage in defending the pro-life movement within their local communities, and have raised11 awareness of the cause through their active participation.12 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby13 commend the Westminster Christian Academy Crusaders for Life for putting their pro-life14 convictions into effective action within the communities they serve.15 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the16 superintendent of Westminster Christian Academy, Merida Brooks.17 The original instrument and the following digest, which constitutes no part of the legislative instrument, were prepared by Nancy Vicknair.
