Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2013 ENROLLED SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 92 BY SENATOR GUILLORY A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON To commend the Westminster Christian Academy Crusaders for Life on being the first student-led, pro-life group on campus. WHEREAS, Crusaders for Life is a student-led, pro-life group on a mission to honor God by actively defending life from conception to natural death; and WHEREAS, the group is comprised of seventy-five members from the seventh through the twelfth grades; and WHEREAS, during the inaugural membership drive, students brought baby shower gifts to a luncheon and those gifts were donated to A Pregnancy Center and Clinic which assists women with unplanned pregnancies; and WHEREAS, members of Crusaders for Life have proclaimed themselves the "Pro- Life Generation"; and WHEREAS, they have dedicated their time to raising awareness of the fifty-three million lives that have been lost since the Roe v. Wade decision by the United States Supreme Court in 1973; and WHEREAS, they believe that prayer is their most powerful tool for conquering the culture of death; and WHEREAS, they also believe that through education and prayer, they will put their principles to action and strive to inspire others to do the same; and WHEREAS, Crusaders for Life has been involved in praying and counseling at abortion clinics, and members have attended the March for Life in Washington, D.C., the "Pro-life Flashmobs", and the Mindszenty and TeenSpeak conferences; and WHEREAS, they have created pro-life events such as Lifeapalooza and Jingle Bell Jive, and volunteered at women's centers, parades, and pro-life benefit dinners; and SCR NO. 92 ENROLLED Page 2 of 2 WHEREAS, additional activities in which members have participated during the organization's inaugural year include Festival for Life, Pro-Life Chalk Day, Beyond the Vote 2012, Cemetery of the Innocents, and the St. Landry Parish Walk for Life; and WHEREAS, the Westminster Christian Academy Crusaders for Life have shown courage in defending the pro-life movement within their local communities, and have raised awareness of the cause through their active participation. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Westminster Christian Academy Crusaders for Life for putting their pro-life convictions into effective action within the communities they serve. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the superintendent of Westminster Christian Academy, Merida Brooks.
