SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 110

SENATE. Recognizes Thursday, May 16, 2013, as Pro-Life Day at the Louisiana State
Capitol.
A RESOLUTION1
To recognize Thursday, May 16, 2013, as Pro-Life Day at the Louisiana State Capitol and2
to commend the state's pregnancy resource centers, adoption agencies, and maternity3
homes.4
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to recognize Thursday, May 16, 2013, as Pro-Life Day5
at the Louisiana State Capitol; and6
WHEREAS, all human life is a gift that is sacred, unique, and worthy of protection,7
and each person, including every person waiting to be born, has a special place and purpose8
in this world; and9
WHEREAS, abortion unjustly takes the life of an innocent human baby and forever10
damages the lives of women and men involved with the abortion; and11
WHEREAS, the more than forty pregnancy resource centers, adoption agencies, and12
maternity homes across the state of Louisiana are working tirelessly to preserve the13
miraculous gift of life by assisting both unborn children and their mothers; and14
WHEREAS, over the past forty years, since the United States Supreme Court made15
abortion legal in Louisiana through the decision of Roe v. Wade, these agencies have saved16
thousands of unborn children from abortion, and in recent years, they have helped decrease17
the annual number of abortions in Louisiana; and18 SR NO. 110

WHEREAS, in addition to saving unborn lives, these agencies have empowered1
mothers in difficult situations by providing material and emotional support both before and2
after the birth of their children and by encouraging parents to place their children for3
adoption; and4
WHEREAS, these agencies have consistently provided confidential counseling to5
women and men who have experienced loss through abortion; and 6
WHEREAS, these life-affirming agencies outnumber abortion facilities in Louisiana7
by five to one, an overwhelming demonstration that Louisiana is a pro-life state; and8
WHEREAS, the Louisiana Choose Life license plate is an effective vehicle for9
promoting the value of human life by making monetary grants available to these agencies10
through the generosity of Louisiana drivers who purchase the plates; and11
WHEREAS, the state's pregnancy resource centers, adoption agencies, and maternity12
homes merit a special measure of commendation for the services they provide in promoting13
the value of human life. 14
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana15
does hereby recognize Thursday, May 16, 2013, as Pro-Life Day at the Louisiana State16
Capitol and does hereby commend the state's pregnancy resource centers, adoption agencies17
and maternity homes.18
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the19
executive director of the Louisiana Right to Life Federation.20
