SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 110

A RESOLUTION
To recognize Thursday, May 16, 2013, as Pro-Life Day at the Louisiana State Capitol and
to commend the state's pregnancy resource centers, adoption agencies, and maternity
homes.
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to recognize Thursday, May 16, 2013, as Pro-Life Day
at the Louisiana State Capitol; and
WHEREAS, all human life is a gift that is sacred, unique, and worthy of protection,
and each person, including every person waiting to be born, has a special place and purpose
in this world; and
WHEREAS, the more than forty pregnancy resource centers, adoption agencies, and
maternity homes across the state of Louisiana are working tirelessly to preserve the
miraculous gift of life by assisting both unborn children and their mothers; and
WHEREAS, over the past forty years, since the United States Supreme Court made
abortion legal in Louisiana through the decision of Roe v. Wade, these agencies have saved
thousands of unborn children from abortion, and in recent years, they have helped decrease
the annual number of abortions in Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, in addition to saving unborn lives, these agencies have empowered
mothers in difficult situations by providing material and emotional support both before and
after the birth of their children and by encouraging parents to place their children for
adoption; and
WHEREAS, these agencies have consistently provided confidential counseling to
women and men who have experienced loss through abortion; and
WHEREAS, these life-affirming agencies outnumber abortion facilities in Louisiana
by five to one, an overwhelming demonstration that Louisiana is a pro-life state; and
WHEREAS, the Louisiana Choose Life license plate is an effective vehicle for
promoting the value of human life by making monetary grants available to these agencies
through the generosity of Louisiana drivers who purchase the plates; and SR NO. 110 ENROLLED

WHEREAS, the state's pregnancy resource centers, adoption agencies, and maternity
homes merit a special measure of commendation for the services they provide in promoting
the value of human life.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby recognize Thursday, May 16, 2013, as Pro-Life Day at the Louisiana State
Capitol and does hereby commend the state's pregnancy resource centers, adoption agencies
and maternity homes.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
executive director of the Louisiana Right to Life Federation.
