SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 13
BY SENATOR THOMPSON 
COMMENDATIONS.  Commends the Rayville High School girls basketball team on
winning the 2013 Class 3-A state championship.
A RESOLUTION1
To commend and congratulate the players and coaches of the Rayville High School girls2
basketball team on winning the Class 3-A state championship.3
WHEREAS, it is with great pride that the citizens of Louisiana and the Senate of the4
Legislature of Louisiana congratulate the Rayville High School girls basketball team on their5
competitive spirit during the 2012-2013 season that culminated in winning the Class 3-A6
Girls State Basketball Championship; and7
WHEREAS, the Rayville High School girls basketball team captured their first ever8
state championship title on Thursday, March 7, 2013, with a 71-38 win over Baker High9
School; and10
WHEREAS, the Rayville High School girls basketball players displayed impeccable11
team concept throughout the season and each of these young women deserves individual12
recognition for her vital contribution to the success of the team; and13
WHEREAS, Dameisha Daniels, Alexia Jackson, Victoria Wilson, Thomasina Minor,14
Andreanna Jackson, Shardal Johnson, La Dencia Johnson, Angelica Williams, Arielle15
Richardson, Nikita Lyons, and Kenniesha Murphy are all commended for their16
determination and dedication to the sport, resulting in a phenomenal season with an17
impressive twenty-seven wins and only five losses; and18 SR NO. 13

WHEREAS, Head Coach Amber Obaze-Ford, in her first season at Rayville High1
School, was selected as the 2013 Northeast Coach of the Year and District 2-3-A Coach of2
the Year; and3
WHEREAS, Coach Amber Obaze-Ford and Assistant Coach Debbie Marshall have4
instilled in their players the kind of leadership and motivational skills needed to achieve5
great success both on and off the basketball court; and6
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend La Dencia Johnson for being named as7
Co-Most Valuable Player for Class 2-3-A, Monroe Civic Center Tournament Most Valuable8
Player, Miss Basketball, Northeast Girls Player of the Year and 1
st
 Team All State; and9
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend Thomasina Minor for being named Class10
3-A Girls Most Valuable Player and 1
st
 Team All District 2-3-A and Andreanna Jackson as11
Co-Most Valuable Player District 2-3-A; and12
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend Dameisha Daniels and Victoria Wilson13
for being named 1
st
 Team All District 2-3-A; Shardal Johnson and Arielle Richardson for14
being named 2
nd
 Team All District 2-3-A; and Angelica Williams for being named15
Honorable Mention All District 2-3-A; and 16
WHEREAS, the Rayville High School Lady Hornets bring a commanding sense of17
honor and immense pride to the school, the town of Rayville, and the state of Louisiana.18
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana19
does hereby commend and congratulate the players and coaches of Rayville High School on20
an impressive and memorable season, and on capturing the Class 3-A Girls State High21
School Basketball Championship.22
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to23
Rayville High School principal, Tommy Watson, and the head basketball coach, Amber24
Obaze-Ford.25
