SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 163

CONDOLENCES. Expresses condolences upon the death of Cecil Ferguson III.
A RESOLUTION1
To express the sincere condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the2
passing of Cecil Ferguson III, affectionately known as "Chop".3
WHEREAS, Cecil Ferguson III was born on July 2, 1973, in Shreveport to proud4
parents, Cecil Jr. and Lizzie Bradford-Ferguson; and5
WHEREAS, Cecil grew to become a positive influence and light to everyone he6
came in contact with; and7
WHEREAS, his parents taught him the ways of the Lord at an early age and he was8
baptized and became a saved Christian while attending Sagemont Baptist Church in9
Houston, TX; and10
WHEREAS, Cecil graduated from Chatham High School where he played basketball11
and later attended Grambling State University; and12
WHEREAS, he was the oldest grandson of the late Cecil Ferguson Sr. and Edna13
Dudley and his maternal grandparents Ibe Bradford and Mattie Stringfellow-Bradford; and14
WHEREAS, he leaves behind his loving parents Cecil Jr. and Lizzie Bradford-15
Ferguson, his siblings LaShandrea Rene', Derrithe LaMar, Angel Shantrel, Prance J'Air Ibe,16
and JaMarcus Markray; and17
WHEREAS, his younger brother Christopher passed later the same day; and18 SR NO. 163

WHEREAS, Cecil leaves adorable sons Donterrion McMurry, Camdyn Crow, and1
Choptavis and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, loving relatives and friends; and2
WHEREAS, Cecil will be missed greatly and cherished forever.3
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana4
does hereby express sincere condolences and sympathy to the family of Cecil Ferguson III5
during their time of sorrow.6
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Mr.7
Cecil Ferguson and to Mrs. Lizzie Bradford-Ferguson.8
