SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 32

COMMENDATIONS. Recognizes April 18, 2013, as "GEAUX BLUE FOR KIDS!" Day
at the Louisiana State Capitol and commends LACASA, CACLA and PCAL.
A RESOLUTION1
To commend Child Advocacy Centers of Louisiana (CACLA), the Louisiana Court2
Appointed Special Advocates Association (LACASA) and Prevent Child Abuse3
Louisiana (PCAL) for their efforts to bring education and awareness to the issues of4
child abuse and abandonment through the "GEAUX BLUE FOR KIDS!" campaign5
and to recognize Thursday, April 18, 2013, as "GEAUX BLUE FOR KIDS!" Day6
at the Louisiana State Capitol.7
WHEREAS, the Child Advocacy Centers of Louisiana, the Louisiana Court8
Appointed Special Advocates Association, and Prevent Child Abuse Louisiana have made9
valuable contributions to Louisiana and have helped to make the state a better place for10
children and families; and 11
WHEREAS, the member programs of these associations serve over 11,000 children12
and reach over 25,000 families each year in the 64 parishes of Louisiana through advocacy,13
education, and awareness efforts to support child well-being, and that research has14
demonstrated these programs improve outcomes for children, reduce trauma for families,15
and save taxpayer money; and 16
WHEREAS, child abuse and abandonment most often occurs in situations where17
community resources are not available for victims to cope with stressful situations and18 SR NO. 32

preventing child abuse by strengthening families is better for children and more cost1
effective for Louisiana taxpayers; and2
WHEREAS, the "GEAUX BLUE FOR KIDS!" campaign encourages the people of3
Louisiana to promote and advocate for all children based upon the belief that all4
Louisianians should contribute to the prevention of child abuse in order to ensure that every5
family has the community support needed to raise children in a safe and nurturing6
environment. 7
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Louisiana Senate of the Legislature of8
Louisiana does hereby commend CACLA, LACASA, PCAL, and their member programs9
for their service and dedication to Louisiana's children, families, and communities and does10
hereby recognize Thursday, April 18, 2013, as "GEAUX BLUE FOR KIDS!" Day at the11
Louisiana State Capitol. 12
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the13
Louisiana CASA Association on behalf of the partnership.14
