A RESOLUTION1 To commend and congratulate Roy Amedee upon his retirement from both Winn-Dixie and2 the Board of Directors of the Louisiana Retailers Association.3 WHEREAS, Roy Amedee was born in Lutcher, Louisiana, and resides in New4 Orleans, Louisiana; and5 WHEREAS, in 1942, Roy Amedee married the former Muriel Bossier and they are6 the proud parents of two sons, Roy Amedee Jr. and Patrick Amedee; and7 WHEREAS, Roy Amedee is a graduate of Louisiana State University in Baton8 Rouge, Louisiana; and9 WHEREAS, in 1947, Roy Amedee began his career with H. G. Hill Stores, which10 became Winn-Dixie in 1956; and11 WHEREAS, in 1964, Roy Amedee became active with the Louisiana Retailers12 Association; and13 WHEREAS, during his tenure as Director of Community Affairs for Winn-Dixie14 Louisiana, Roy Amedee established himself as an expert on the grocery industry in the state15 of Louisiana; and16 WHEREAS, Roy Amedee represented the retail grocery industry through his17 appointment to numerous boards and commissions, including twenty years of service on the18 SR NO. 46 SLS 13RS-648 ORIGINAL Page 2 of 2 Weights and Measures Commission; and1 WHEREAS, Roy Amedee leaves not only a legacy of effective leadership as a2 member of the Board of Directors of the Louisiana Retailers Association, but also a legacy3 of his caring involvement in the retail industry of the state of Louisiana.4 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana5 does hereby commend and congratulate Roy Amedee upon his retirement from Winn-Dixie6 and from the Board of Directors of the Louisiana Retailers Association.7 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be presented to Roy8 Amedee.9 The original instrument and the following digest, which constitutes no part of the legislative instrument, were prepared by Tammy Crain Waldrop.
