SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 57

COMMENDATIONS. Commends Helen Lefevre upon being named the 2012-2013 Class
5A Coach of the Year.
A RESOLUTION1
To commend Helen Lefevre for her commitment and contribution to women's basketball and2
upon being named the 2012-2013 Class 5A Coach of the Year.3
WHEREAS, after leading the Sulphur High School Lady Tors to one of their best4
seasons in program history and a semifinal appearance; and 5
WHEREAS, the Sulphur Lady Tors went 28-4 including a 12-0 run through District6
3-5A for their first district title since 2004; and7
WHEREAS, Coach Lefevre has compiled an impressive 686-273 record in her8
twenty-nine years of coaching and has no plans of retiring anytime soon; and9
WHEREAS, she was named coach of the year in 1988 when she led Starks High10
School to the Class B State Title; and11
WHEREAS, she spent four years at Starks earning a state title and a runner-up finish12
and led LaGrange for eight years with one top twenty-eight trip before moving to Sulphur13
in 1996; and14
WHEREAS, Coach Lefevre led the Lady Tors to the semifinals both in 1998 and15
2013; and 16
WHEREAS, Coach Lefevre deferred the credit of her 5A Coach of the Year honor17
to her players, school administration and assistant coaches, Carol Tuner and Candice18 SR NO. 57

WHEREAS, under the direction of Coach Lefevre, many high school girls have2
honed their basketball skills, received mentoring and experienced the fulfilling feeling of3
victory.4
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana5
does hereby commend and congratulate Coach Helen Lefevre for her commitment and6
contribution to women's basketball and upon being named the 2012-2013 Class 5A Coach7
of the Year.8
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to9
Coach Helen Lefevre.10
