Henderson in Afghanistan. A RESOLUTION1 To express the sincere condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the2 death of United States Army Chief Warrant Officer Bryan J. Henderson while3 serving in Operation Enduring Freedom.4 WHEREAS, Bryan J. Henderson was a native of Fort Necessity, Louisiana, and5 graduated from Franklin Parish High School in 2003; and6 WHEREAS, Bryan enrolled in the University of Louisiana at Monroe, from which7 he graduated in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science in Aviation; and8 WHEREAS, he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 2007, and used his college education9 to get into that service's aviation program and earn his wings as a Chief Warrant Officer and10 aircraft commander; and11 WHEREAS, CWO Henderson received his orders and was assigned to the 4 th 12 Battalion, 3 rd Aviation Regiment, 3 rd Combat Aviation Brigade, 3 rd Infantry Division at13 Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia; and14 WHEREAS, CWO Henderson got plenty of combat flying experience as he and his15 unit served with distinction during a deployment to Afghanistan with the legendary 3 rd 16 Infantry Division; and17 WHEREAS, CWO Henderson learned much during his initial tour of duty in a18 SR NO. 62 SLS 13RS-586 ORIGINAL Page 2 of 3 combat theater, returning to Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia, and sharpening his aviation1 skills through continued training; and2 WHEREAS, he would soon be issued orders for a second deployment to Afghanistan3 where he would become a member of Task Force Falcon, 3 rd Combat Aviation Brigade based4 in Kandahar, Afghanistan; and5 WHEREAS, when CWO Henderson and his fellow soldiers were not running6 missions, they were busy training, day and night, and it was on such a routine training7 mission, Monday night, March 11, 2013, that the UN-60 Black Hawk helicopter he was8 aboard went down, mortally injuring him and the other four Task Force Falcon members;9 and10 WHEREAS, the cause of the crash was thoroughly investigated and no single reason11 for it has been determined, what is known is that the five who perished on that flight were12 some of the best that America had and they will all be mourned and sorely missed by family,13 friends, loved ones, and their brothers at arms; and14 WHEREAS, CWO Henderson served his country with great distinction and15 dedication, earning his Army Aviator Badge, Combat Action Badge, and the Army Air16 Medal, in addition to the service medals awarded to him during two combat tours as a17 helicopter pilot; and18 WHEREAS, CWO Bryan J. Henderson was only twenty-seven years old, but he19 exhibited so many of the fine American traits that define leaders, both military and civilian,20 and displayed such great bravery and grace under fire that all who knew him were proud to21 say so.22 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana23 does hereby extend its deepest and most sincere condolences to the family of U.S. Chief24 Warrant Officer Bryan J. Henderson on his death, and for his sacrifice and service to his25 country.26 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the27 family of CWO Bryan J.
