SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 63
BY SENATOR ADLEY 
CONDOLENCES.  Extends condolences on the death of U.S. Army Specialist Ryan Michael
Delrie.
A RESOLUTION1
To express the sincere condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana to the2
family of United States Army Specialist Michael Delrie upon his death while on3
active duty.4
WHEREAS, Ryan Michael Delrie was a native of the Prospect community of5
Louisiana and was a 2008 graduate of Grant High School; and6
WHEREAS, Ryan Michael Delrie was a member of the Bently United Pentecostal7
Church and was comforted by the times he spent in the church and by the fellow worshipers8
he met there; and9
WHEREAS, Ryan Michael Delrie truly loved sports and took great pleasure in10
watching and playing football and baseball; and11
WHEREAS, Ryan Michael Delrie so loved his country that he enlisted in the U.S.12
Army after high school, serving in the Louisiana Army National Guard; and13
WHEREAS, Specialist Delrie trained hard and was a good soldier and was fully14
prepared to fight for his country when he and his unit were deployed in 2010 to Operation15
Iraqi Freedom; and16
WHEREAS, Specialist Delrie saw much combat during his tour of duty but he17
always put the welfare of his comrades and the accomplishment of his mission first and18 SR NO. 63

foremost; and1
WHEREAS, Specialist Delrie was troubled and concerned by the despair and2
destruction that he had seen during his time on the battlefield, eating military rations in the3
rain, shivering during the cold desert nights, and sweating through the tortuous heat of the4
days as he served with distinction, dedication, and great pride; and5
WHEREAS, Specialist Delrie soldiered on, through the thirst, dust and death that is6
war, and he knew that when his country had called, he had answered, and that when he was7
asked to bear arms, he had borne them, and because of this, he was comforted by the fact8
that he had done all that was asked of him and performed his duties with honor; and9
WHEREAS, Specialist Delrie's courage can never be questioned, his love for his10
homeland will always be an inspiration to those who knew him, and his loss is almost too11
much to bear for those who loved him.12
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana13
does hereby extend its deepest and most profound condolences to the family of United States14
Army Specialist Ryan Michael Delrie upon his death while in the service of his country and15
for his brave military service, his sacrifices for his country, and for the immeasurable loss16
his family, friends, loved ones and fellow soldiers have suffered as a result of his loss.17
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the18
family of U.S. Army Specialist Ryan Michael Delrie.19
