Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2013 ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 63 BY SENATORS ADLEY, ALARIO, ALLAIN, AMEDEE, APPEL, BROOME, BROWN, BUFFINGTON, CHABERT, CLAI TOR, CORTEZ, CROWE, DONAHUE, DORSEY-COLOMB, ERDEY, GALLOT, GUILLORY, HEITMEIER, JOHNS, KOSTELKA, LAFLEUR, LONG, MARTINY, MILLS, MORRELL, MORRISH , MURRAY, NEVERS, PEACOCK, PERRY, PETERSON, RISER, GARY SMITH, JOHN SMITH, TARVER, THOMPSON, WALSWORTH, WARD AND WHI TE A RESOLUTION To express the sincere condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana to the family of United States Army Specialist Michael Delrie upon his death while on active duty. WHEREAS, Ryan Michael Delrie was a native of the Prospect community of Louisiana and was a 2008 graduate of Grant High School; and WHEREAS, Ryan Michael Delrie was a member of the Bently United Pentecostal Church and was comforted by the times he spent in the church and by the fellow worshipers he met there; and WHEREAS, Ryan Michael Delrie truly loved sports and took great pleasure in watching and playing football and baseball; and WHEREAS, Ryan Michael Delrie so loved his country that he enlisted in the U.S. Army after high school, serving in the Louisiana Army National Guard; and WHEREAS, Specialist Delrie trained hard and was a good soldier and was fully prepared to fight for his country when he and his unit were deployed in 2010 to Operation Iraqi Freedom; and WHEREAS, Specialist Delrie saw much combat during his tour of duty but he always put the welfare of his comrades and the accomplishment of his mission first and foremost; and WHEREAS, Specialist Delrie was troubled and concerned by the despair and destruction that he had seen during his time on the battlefield, eating military rations in the rain, shivering during the cold desert nights, and sweating through the tortuous heat of the days as he served with distinction, dedication, and great pride; and SR NO. 63 ENROLLED Page 2 of 2 WHEREAS, Specialist Delrie soldiered on, through the thirst, dust and death that is war, and he knew that when his country had called, he had answered, and that when he was asked to bear arms, he had borne them, and because of this, he was comforted by the fact that he had done all that was asked of him and performed his duties with honor; and WHEREAS, Specialist Delrie's courage can never be questioned, his love for his homeland will always be an inspiration to those who knew him, and his loss is almost too much to bear for those who loved him. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby extend its deepest and most profound condolences to the family of United States Army Specialist Ryan Michael Delrie upon his death while in the service of his country and for his brave military service, his sacrifices for his country, and for the immeasurable loss his family, friends, loved ones and fellow soldiers have suffered as a result of his loss. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the family of U.S. Army Specialist Ryan Michael Delrie. PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE
