A RESOLUTION1 To express the sincere condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana to the2 family of United States Air Force Technical Sergeant Larry Bunn upon his death in3 support of Operation Enduring Freedom.4 WHEREAS, Sergeant Bunn was a native of Gladewater, Texas, in Gregg County,5 where he was born in 1969; and6 WHEREAS, Sergeant Bunn was raised in Big Sandy, Texas, and was a graduate of7 Harmony High School in Upshur County and later settled in Bossier City, Louisiana; and8 WHEREAS, Sergeant Bunn enlisted in the United States Air Force Reserve in 1987,9 and received his associate's degree in Aerospace Ground Equipment from the Community10 College of the Air Force; and11 WHEREAS, Sergeant Bunn was assigned to the 2 nd Maintenance Munitions12 Squadron, Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana while serving on active duty from 1987, to13 1990; and14 WHEREAS, Sergeant Bunn transitioned in 1990 to the 917 th Wing's Air Force15 Reserve unit at Barksdale until its deactivation in January, 2011, when he decided to remain16 at Barksdale and received his orders to stay with the Wing under its new designation, the17 307 th Bomb Wing; and18 SR NO. 72 SLS 13RS-1236 ORIGINAL Page 2 of 2 WHEREAS, Sergeant Bunn was deployed three times in support of operations in1 southwest Asia, the last duty station being an undisclosed area in Southwest Asia working2 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom; and3 WHEREAS, Sergeant Bunn will be mourned forever by his wife, Tammy and his4 children, Amber, Lacey, Bryson, Tony, Devon, and Taylor; and5 WHEREAS, Sergeant Bunn's presence will also be sorely missed by his mother,6 Lynda, and his father, Gene, but they will be able to cherish the grandchildren he left them7 and treasure the moments the family spent together; and8 WHEREAS, Sergeant Bunn accomplished much during his military career and his9 decorations and awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Air Force Commendation10 Medal, the Air Force Achievement Medal with two oak leaf clusters, the Air Force11 Outstanding Unit Award with five oak leaf clusters, the Air Reserve Forces Meritorious12 Service Medal with six oak leaf clusters, the National Defense Service Medal, the Global13 War on Terrorism Service Medal, Air Force Expeditionary Service Ribbon, the Air Force14 Longevity Service Medal with three oak leaf clusters, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal with15 "M" Device, and the Air Force Training Ribbon; and16 WHEREAS, while the terrible loss borne by his family is unimaginable and17 heartbreaking, Sergeant Bunn also made his family deeply proud of his brave service to his18 country and his sacrifices on its behalf.19 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana20 does hereby extend its deepest and most profound condolences to the family of United States21 Air Force Technical Sergeant Larry Bunn upon his death in support of Operation Enduring22 Freedom.23 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the24 family of U.S. Air Force Technical Sergeant Larry Bunn.25 The original instrument and the following digest, which constitutes no part of the legislative instrument, were prepared by Heyward Jeffers.
